Psoriatic Arthritis

Our Approach

What is Psoriatic Arthritis?

Psoriatic arthritis, an inflammatory form of arthritis, impacts individuals with psoriasis—a condition characterized by red skin patches covered with silvery scales. Symptoms encompass joint pain, stiffness, and swelling, with flares and remissions. Morning stiffness is a common occurrence for many affected individuals.

This condition can affect various body parts, including fingertips and the spine, with severity ranging from mild to severe. Untreated, psoriatic arthritis has the potential to cause significant joint damage.

Effective Ayurvedic treatment for psoriatic arthritis involves initially balancing vata and kapha doshas, and subsequently addressing the affected rakta, ashti, and majja channels in the patient. At Disha Ayurvedic, psoriatic arthritis is treated through Shodhan and Shaman chikitsa, methods that eliminate toxic waste materials from the body and enhance the immune system.

Best Treatment for Psoriatic Arthritis

For over a century, Disha Ayurvedic has utilized a diverse range of herbs and therapies to effectively address psoriatic arthritis. Our treatment approach is centered on eradicating the signs and symptoms of psoriatic arthritis while also preventing joint deformities. The primary Ayurvedic treatment employed typically revolves around Panchakarma therapy, a process that utilizes detoxification and purification methods with the administration of medicinal oils, either orally or externally.

  • The panchakarma treatment for psoriatic arthritis ensures the removal of harmful ama toxins from the body and balances your vitiated doshas.
  • A diet consisting of sweet and bitter foods is administered to the patient. Exercises and purgatory methods such as emesis and therapeutic vomiting are also prescribed.
  • With the bones and joints being mainly affected in psoriatic arthritis, Ayurvedic treatment seeks to purge the channels of the body that bring nutrition to the bone marrow.
  • Other treatments involves lepas (external application of herbal medicines), abhyanga (herbal massages), dhara (pouring of medicated oils and liquids), avagahana (immersing disease affected parts of the body in medicated liquids)
